Godzilla II: King of the Monsters

Godzilla vs. Kong is an advertised science fiction - action film from the year 2020 from Adam Wingard . It is a sequel to Michael Dougherty's Godzilla II: King of the Monsters (2019) and is based on the Japanese film monster of the same name from Toho Studios.

The film was shot in the following locations: Gold Coast , Fortitude Valley and Brisbane in Australia, also in New York City .

The film was originally scheduled to release in US cinemas on May 29, 2020 and March 13, 2020, respectively. The theatrical release was later announced for November 20, 2020 and finally postponed to May 21, 2021 in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic . In Germany, the film is due to open in cinemas the day before.

Trivia

It is the first film since The Return of King Kong (58 years earlier), in which King Kong and Godzilla meet again, and the fourth part of the MonsterVerses .

The film takes place directly after Godzilla: King of the Monsters (2019) and 47 years after Kong: Skull Island (2017) since the film is set in 1973.

In reality, Tōhō wanted to make a remake film with Godzilla against King Kong in the 1990s, but Turner Entertainment, which owns King Kong, declined the proposal.

Also, this is the second King Kong film to star Kyle Chandler. Chandler was previously seen in King Kong (2005), although that film is unrelated to this one.
