Handball Regional League West 1979/80
The 1979/1980 season of the men's regional handball league was the 10th in its history. A total of 28 teams in a north and a south relay played for the West German championship. The two best-placed teams of their season played for the title of West German champions in 1980 after 26 match days . Bayer Leverkusen managed to do this immediately after relegation .
Two teams had to be relegated to the top leagues: Schalksmühler TV (Westphalia) and TV Urmitz (Rhineland-Palatinate). Furthermore, the TV Siesbach (Rhineland-Palatinate) withdrew its team.
