Hartland is a town in Somerset County in the state of Maine in the United States . In 2010 there lived 1782 inhabitants in 1109 households on an area of 111.24 km².

Geographical location
Hartland is in southeast Somerset County. In the north, the lake The Narrows borders the area. There are other smaller lakes in the town area. The surface is slightly hilly, the 251 m high Goodwin Hill is the highest point.

history
After the area was surveyed, it was named Township No. 3, First Range North of Plymouth Claim, East of Kennebec River (T3 R1 NPC EKR) and initially Warrenstown according to Dr. John Warren of Boston, the first private landowner in the area. The settlement was organized as a plantation in 1811 and as a town on February 17, 1820 under its current name.
Land was given to Athens and St. Albans in 1821, and land was added to St. Albans in 1846. Land was given to Canaan in 1849 and to Pittsfield in 1852.

In Hartland, the Hartland Public Library is on Mill Street. There has been a library in Hartland since 1903. Initially, the books were collected in Hartland's Town Hall. Between 1935 and 1990 the library was on Commercial Street. It has been located in its current premises on Mill Street since 1991.
