I league (chess) 1988
The I liga (chess) 1988 was the 19th edition of the I league and the 44th Polish team championship in chess . The team from MZKS Pocztowiec Poznań, which had only been promoted to the I league last year, became the Polish team champion thanks to the better second ranking compared to the teams from KS Kolejarz Katowice and KKS Polonia Warszawa with equal points. The defending champion KKS Lech Poznań had to be content with fourth place. In addition to MZKS Pocztowiec Poznań, KS Maraton Warszawa was promoted from the II league, which together with KS Górnik 09 Mysłowice was relegated directly.

mode
The twelve teams played a simple round-robin tournament on six boards, with a woman standing on the sixth board. The last two were relegated to the II league and were replaced by the winners of the two seasons of the II league. The total of the additional points from the Polish youth team championship (15% of the points achieved there for teams that played in the I league of the youth team championship, 10% for teams that played in the II league of the youth team championship, rounded to half) initially decided on the placement Points) and the number of board points (one point for a win, half a point for a draw, no point for a defeat), then the number of board points and then the number of team points (two points for a win, one point for a Tie, no point for loss).
