Ingelheimer Oberhof
The Ingelheimer Oberhof , formerly the Imperial Court , was the highest authority in the Ingelheim Empire from the 14th to the 16th century, later Ingelheimer Grund . It was a widely recognized imperial (appeal) court. He is of outstanding importance for the history of the German judiciary, as part of his medieval court files , the so-called Haderbücher , have been preserved from him .
Adalbert Erler writes: In the Middle Ages, upper courts were courts from which the small jury members around, if they were at a loss on a legal issue, asked for information to clarify their doubts .
history
The Oberhof can be proven with certainty from 1366. With its seat in Ober-Ingelheim , it had jurisdiction over Nieder-Ingelheim , Ober-Ingelheim , Groß-Winternheim and all places of the Ingelheimer Grund . As a court of appeal, it was the closest instance for over 60 locations in a wide area.
The court was originally occupied by 14 nobles and farmers from the Ingelheimer Grund . Over time, however, the number of noble members increased sharply.
In 1680 the Oberhof was dissolved by the Palatinate Court Court .
