Jerry Bruckheimer
Jerome Leon "Jerry" Bruckheimer (born September 21, 1943 in Detroit , Michigan ) is an American film and television producer.
life and work
Bruckheimer grew up in poor circumstances in a small house in Detroit as the son of Jewish parents who had emigrated from Germany to the USA in the 1930s . He discovered his love for cinema very early on. After attending the University of Arizona , Bruckheimer began making 60-second films. His first work was a parody of Bonnie and Clyde .
For the next few years, Bruckheimer worked on other small projects, including in New York , before he achieved a surprising success in 1983 with the film Flashdance . With grossing US $ 95 million , Flashdance was the third most successful production of the year in the US. Around the same time he founded the "Simpson-Bruckheimer-Productions" with Don Simpson .
In the 1980s, Bruckheimer produced Top Gun and Beverly Hills Cop . Through contracts with Paramount Pictures and Disney , he became increasingly important and produced various blockbusters . The best-known of these include Armageddon , Pearl Harbor and the Pirates-of-the-Caribbean series. He is also involved in the production of the CSI series. His films have grossed over $ 13 billion in total.
Bruckheimer repeatedly cooperated with the US military .
Bruckheimer belongs to the Republican Party . He supported the candidacy of George W. Bush in 2000 and 2004 and John McCain in the 2008 presidential election .
From June 2007 to June 2008, Bruckheimer earned about $ 145 million, according to Forbes' The Celebrity 100 .
In May 2009 it was announced that Bruckheimer had founded the company Jerry Bruckheimer Games Inc. two years earlier , which develops computer games. In March 2013, however, a spokesman called it inactive and the website was redirected to the normal Jerry Bruckheimer website.
