Jungwacht Blauring (also called Jubla ) is a children and youth association in Switzerland . It is connected to the Roman Catholic Church , but open to all children and young people - regardless of denomination or culture. Girls can take part in blue rings, boys in Jungwacht. In some parishes, Jungwacht and Blauring have joined forces for the Jubla and meet in mixed or separate groups. The association is increasingly perceived by the public as a jubilation.

The young guard, blue ring and jubla groups organized in the parishes are not usually constituted as independent associations, but sections of the cantonal young guard blue ring associations in accordance with Art. 60 ff. ZGB . These cantonal associations, in turn, as legal entities, are members of the Swiss-wide association Jungwacht Blauring Schweiz , which is based in Lucerne . The individual members in the multitudes, namely the children and leaders, are members of their cantonal association and the national association; At the national level, the interests of the individual members are represented by cantonal delegates.

The organization is organized internationally in the Fimcap .

history

Jungwacht Blauring has its origins in the Catholic youth movement in the 1930s.

Jungwacht

The first Jungwacht group was founded on June 26, 1932 in Birsfelden near Basel - named by the first praeses of this Jungwacht. Even after that, the founding of young watch groups were initially initiatives by individual parishes. At the association leader conference of the Swiss Catholic Young Team Association (SKJV) on 11/12. In September 1932 a proposal was made to merge the children's groups as a preliminary stage to the Catholic youth groups in the parishes. Many combinations with “-wacht”, “-bund”, “-schaft” and “Jung-” already existed in the world of Catholic associations, for example the Tarzisiusbund Heiligkreuz in St. Gallen, founded in 1931 by Albert Oesch . The name “Jungwacht” was later defined for the merger to form the Swiss Young Guard Association . The Jungwacht Birsfelden also shaped the outward appearance of the Jungwachtbund with its green shirt with the stylized Christ symbol. Don Bosco , who is generally regarded as the patron saint of youth, was chosen as the patron saint .

Blue ring

The blue ring was founded as a child of the then Virgins Congregation . Its members wanted a more independent life and more games and singing at their get-togethers. On September 17, 1933, at a meeting in Olten, the basic lines of the new girls' association were established according to group principles that were already widespread. The name is a symbol for community (ring) and the feminine, Maria (blue). Maria also points to the patron saint of this girls' organization.

Collaboration between Jungwacht and Blue Ring

In the 1970s, the Jungwacht and the Blue Ring broke away from their founding associations and began an intensive collaboration. In the 1990s, a cooperation agreement was concluded and various bodies were merged. The social and church upheaval also influences the objectives and methods of Jungwacht Blauring. Organizations for children and young people with a Christian leisure culture and social objectives emerged from associations oriented towards the popular church .

Another change took place in 2009: the delegates at the Federal Assembly decided to merge the two associations at national level to form “Jungwacht Blauring Schweiz”.

75 year anniversary

To mark the 75th anniversary of the Jubla, a huge celebration took place on June 9 and 10, 2007 on the grounds of the Lucerne Allmend . Around 11,000 children, leaders , alumni and helpers were there and were able to celebrate the anniversary of the Jungwacht and the Blue Ring at numerous games, studios and events. Among other things, there was a concert by the band Lockstoff . Various other birthday events took place in the flocks and cantons during 2007 . In addition, smaller national activities and campaigns were carried out, such as a creative photo competition or a song chronicle that brought the 75-year history of the club to life.

Vision and strategies until 2025

In 2015, the Children's and Youth Association set itself a new vision and four leading strategies. Jungwacht Blauring will work on these until 2025.

vision

Jungwacht Blauring is the strongest and most recognized brand for high-quality and meaningful leisure activities in German-speaking Switzerland.

Association structure

group

Life in Jungwacht Blauring takes place primarily in the children's and youth group lessons. A group usually consists of six to twelve girls or boys of the same age. This is led on a voluntary basis by trained young people aged 16 and over (usually one to three leaders per group). The group meets regularly (usually weekly) for group lessons: games, works, drama, singing, dancing, experiencing nature, doing sports and much more is part of the group activity.

Crowd

Several groups together form the flock. The crowd management and the management team plan the activities for the whole crowd together: play festivals, tent and snow weekends, group meetings, parish festivals, children and youth services. For most of the crowds, the annual highlight is the camp. Depending on the flock, it can vary between summer and autumn camps or Pentecost / Ascension camps. The crowd travels to a house or tent camp for a week or two. Various games, orienteering or hikes , pioneer buildings, handicrafts, singing around the campfire, excursions into the surrounding area are part of everyday camp life.

There are different types of shares:

  • Jungwacht and Blauring as independent organizations for girls and boys.
  • Jubla as an organization for girls and boys with young guard and blue ring groups.
  • Jubla as an organization for girls and boys with mixed-sex groups of children.

The multitudes can freely determine their model of cooperation. Girls and boys have the opportunity to experience something together. But they should also enjoy freedom in which the skills and needs of girls and boys come into play in a gender-equitable manner.

Preses

The President also has an important function, who has the following tasks in a group, a region or a canton: Accompanying / advising the management team, networking with church and political authorities, pastoral workers as well as parents and spiritual animation in the broadest sense (church services, contemplative moments, Dealing with questions of faith and values). The Praeses is honorary, part-time or full-time and can have a theological training.

Canton and region

In these cantons, the regional management usually takes on the training courses and the cull support, while the canton management functions as a link between the regional associations and the federal level. The autonomous flocks are members of the cantonal or regional association. Representatives from the multitudes elect the canton or regional management. Principles

For Jungwacht Blauring, child and youth work is an educational task that requires orientation points. Jungwacht Blauring has formulated this in its five principles in order to do justice to children and young people in a constantly changing world. That is why social, religious and political engagement is one of the tasks of Jungwacht Blauring. This commitment is lived out at various levels - from the children's group to the federal management, all association members comply with the five principles:

  • be together
  • to be creative (formerly: to be creative)
  • experience nature
  • participate
  • Live faith

or simply as a donkey bridge in the form of an acrostic : ZuSchöNaMiGla.

The original sign of the young watch is the Christ monogram. It is composed of the two letters Chi (X) and Rho (P). The first Christians used these two letters to abbreviate the Greek word Χριστός (Christ). The counterpart of the blue ring consisted of a ring that includes the letter M. The ring stands for community and the M for: girls, more and Maria.

From 1971 to 1993 the logo was an illustration of girls 'and boys' heads together with the lettering Jungwacht and blue ring.

Some of these logos are still used today in a modified form by the multitudes.

Jungwacht and Blauring have had a common logo since 1993. It is intended to express the association's view of “creating free space”. The point holds everything together, it means community. The association's slogan has also been attached to the logo since 2006: Lebensfreu (n) de.

This logo sparked discussions right from the start, which earned it the nickname “spaghetti plate”, which has persisted to this day. The graphic artist Peter Wiskemann wanted to stimulate the imagination with the sign, because this was particularly important to him at Jungwacht Blauring. So he quickly incorporated the five principles into the logo. For example, he expressed the principle of «being creative» by depicting cephalopods. These are one of the first drawings that children make. The heart also stands for the principle of "living faith".

Members and multitudes

Jungwacht Blauring has almost 30,000 members who are organized in 423 groups. These in turn are divided into 15 cantonal associations.

education

Every year around 3,000 young people attend training courses on a voluntary basis. Jungwacht Blauring attaches great importance to sustainable and solid training and further education for managers. The courses are carried out in the structure of Jugend + Sport and reimbursed by the Federal Social Insurance Office. The federal management is involved in determining the framework conditions for these offers.

The training takes place at different management levels (management level):

  • Group leader course (GLK): The group leaders lead a children's group and work in the crowd at parish level. The supervision of a group of children and the preparation and implementation of group lessons and camp blocks are practiced.
  • Flock and Camp Leader Course (SLK): The flock leadership - usually a flock leadership team - is responsible for the leadership team and coordinates the life of the flock. The camp management is responsible for the camp.
  • Expert course (Exp): Experts help guide training courses and are often members of cantonal or regional management. They are also available as coaches for one or more groups, look after them and check and approve the Y + S camp.
  • Preses course: As an adult, the Preses accompanies the leadership team of a parish or a cantonal or regional leadership and helps with the implementation of religious content.
