prehistory

The mayor's office in Kirchhoven was composed around 1830 as follows. The Kirchdorf Kirchhoven and the villages Entebruch, Heuchden, Leick, Lumbach, Schutdorf and Finne. There are also some farms and hamlets . All villages belonged to a mayor's office, but were in themselves separate village and living communities. On the Tranchot map from 1803 to 1820, the individual villages are clearly recognizable. Small chapels, crucifixes and wayside shrines were built in the villages as a sign of deep faith and a close togetherness . This is how this chapel was created in Högden.

history

The Högden Chapel looks back on almost 100 years of history. A hail cross had stood on the site of today's chapel since 1642 . Oral tradition says that parents built this chapel out of gratitude for the happy return of their sons from the First World War . It was renovated in 1990/91. In November 2012 the crucifix was stolen from the chapel. The undamaged body and a newly made trefoil cross were re-blessed during the Corpus Christi procession in 2013.

architecture

The building is a brick construction with an ogival opening. The chapel is on the slope and can be reached from the street via five steps. A steep gable roof covers the chapel. Inside, the chapel is clinkered with light-colored bricks .
