history
Until 1848 were under Gerasdorf and Seyring basic rule : In Gerasdorf were the Vienna Schottenstift , the Abbey of Klosterneuburg and gentlemen Bisamberg (Family Abensperg and Traun ) and Süßenbrunn ; in Seyring it was the German Beroldingen family . From 1849 there were two independent local parishes.
After the "Anschluss" of Austria to the Third Reich , the place was incorporated into Greater Vienna in autumn 1938 . 1946 decided to carry out in 1954, Gera village belonged to the territory Amendment Act to those 80 Wiener edge communities that return to the State of Lower Austria were back broken.
In 1972 the municipality of Seyring was incorporated into the municipality of Gerasdorf. In May 1992 Gerasdorf was raised to a market town. On December 17, 1998, the Lower Austrian state parliament decided to elevate Gerasdorf to the city.
The oldest places in the municipality are Gerasdorf and Seyring. Gerasdorf is first mentioned in a document in the Klosterneuburg tradition book around 1200 , "Viricus des Gerhartesdorf" is a witness of a donation to the monastery.
The oldest documented mentions of Seyring also date from the 11th century, the first mentions are as "Seuringe". Allegedly, a ring of lakes is said to have surrounded the village earlier, from which the place name could be traced back.
The two settlements Oberlisse and Kapellerfeld did not emerge until the interwar period after 1918, whereby the name Kapellerfeld refers to a settlement which was already abandoned as "Capellen" in 1258 and which is said to have been half a kilometer south of today's settlement.
In today's cadastral municipality of Seyring, the Seyring military airfield with the code name “Wetterfrosch” of the German Air Force and an air combat school (“Wien-Seyring”) was located during World War II . During the Balkan campaign in 1941, the 4th (F) reconnaissance group 121 ( Luftflotte 4 ) was stationed there. From 1944 this military airfield was the target of Allied air raids. Bomb craters in the surrounding forests and remains of this airport - such as concrete runways , earth walls around former gun emplacements and remains of the hangars' foundations - are still visible in and around Seyring today.
In September 2015 it was announced that the Vienna-Umgebung district will be dissolved on December 31, 2016. Gerasdorf was to become part of the Gänserndorf district from January 1, 2017 . In an online citizens' survey organized by the municipality in September 2015, however, a two-thirds majority voted in favor of belonging to the Korneuburg district . On September 24, 2015, the Lower Austrian state parliament granted the citizens' request and approved the assignment of Gerasdorf to the Korneuburg district.
