The 1973/74 season, the division Lower Saxony was the 25th season of the highest Lower Saxony amateur league in football . It was the tenth under the name Landesliga and at that time took the third highest level in the German league system. Master was Prussia Hamelin . In addition to Hameln, SpVgg Bad Pyrmont and SV Union Salzgitter qualified for the newly created Oberliga Nord . The amateurs of Hannover 96 took part in the qualification for the Oberliga Nord , but where the team failed.

The descent from the regional league was suspended in the 1973/74 season. TSV Helmstedt , TuS Lingen and Wolfenbütteler SV rose from the association leagues . With the introduction of the Oberliga Nord from the 1974/75 season, the Lower Saxony state league was only fourth class.

    The teams from Lingen, Wolfenbütte and Osterode tied for points had to determine the winner of group B in two play-off games. The participants in the respective games were determined by drawing lots . The first game took place on June 12, 1974 in Hameln . Lingen won the game and rose straight away.

    Now Wolfenbüttel and Osterode had to determine the runners-up in the group on June 17, 1974 in Bad Harzburg . Wolfenbüttel won after extra time and thus reached the playoff for the third promoted player.

    On June 23, 1974, the two runners-up in Hanover - Misburg determined the third promoted to the Lower Saxony State League 1974/75.
