economy

Sand is extracted from the quarry south of Le Castellet in the Val d'Aren (sand valley), which stretches for several kilometers over the territory of the three municipalities of Le Castellet, Le Beausset and Évenos .

Vineyards, olive trees and vegetable plantations characterize the agricultural areas of the municipality. Some wines belong to the AOCs , Bandol and Côtes de Provence . The olive oil is pressed by an oil cooperative. In addition to wine and olive oil, Le Castellet is also known for its honey production.

Since 1962, Le Castellet has gained economic power through the creation of an airport, which was reinforced with the completion of the expansion of the airport Aéroport International du Castellet complex together with the Circuit Paul Ricard race track . Circuit Paul Ricard is a state-of-the-art racing, test and experimental track that is used a lot by many racing teams, car and motorcycle manufacturers and car accessories manufacturers. This leads to sufficient utilization of the airport, hotel and restaurant business in this complex. During test times and during test drives in the automotive industry, access to the racetrack area is not possible for visitors due to the risk of factory espionage.
