Preliminary round

The preliminary round was held in four runs. The first three athletes per run - highlighted in light blue - as well as the four fastest runners - highlighted in light green - qualified for the semi-finals. In the third run, two participants crossed the finish line in third place at the same time, so that both qualified for the finals and only three athletes reached the next round over their time. However, this had no effect, even without the tie, the same athletes would have reached the semi-finals as now.
