Lewis Cycles Works was an Australian manufacturer of bicycles , motorcycles and automobiles .

Company history

Vivian Lewis founded the company in Adelaide in 1893 and began manufacturing bicycles. Motorcycles and 1900 automobiles followed in 1898. The brand name was Lewis . Automobile production ended in 1906 and motorcycle production ended in 1914. A total of eight automobiles were built. The company manufactured wheelchairs until 1975 .

Automobiles

The first model was a four-wheeled buggy with three seats. An air-cooled single-cylinder engine with 4.5 hp propelled the rear wheels. The transmission had two gears.
