GJ McHattan was an Australian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Geoff McHattan founded the company in Manly near Sydney . He started producing automobiles in 1986. The brand name was GJM . At the end of 1986 three vehicles had already been completed and five more were in progress. Production ended in 1987.

The only Taipan model was a replica of the AC Cobra . The vehicles were powered by a V8 from Chevrolet with a displacement of 7400 cc . He made using two turbochargers from Garrett about 300 kW. From 1987 a smaller Chevrolet engine with 5790 cm³ displacement was also available. The open body offered space for two people.

According to the manufacturer, it was the fastest street-legal vehicle made in Australia at the time.
