Eco Motors Co. Ltd was an Australian manufacturer of automobiles .
Company history
The New Zealander George Hamilton-Grapes had a patent for a device that saved gasoline . In 1921 he traveled to the USA . In 1921 he built a prototype in Detroit . Upon his return, he founded the company in Melbourne with production facilities in Oakleigh . He started producing automobiles in 1922, 1923 or 1924. The brand name was Eco . Production ended in 1926. Only a few vehicles were made.

The prototype from 1921 had a four-cylinder engine from Lycoming with 2900 cc displacement .
The series vehicles received a slightly larger engine from the same manufacturer with a displacement of 3140 cm³, which made 40 hp . The clutch came from Borg & Beck , the steering from Gemmer and the instruments from Stewart-Warner . The wheelbase was 282 cm and the curb weight of the touring car was 1145 kg. The petrol consumption was given as only 8 liters per 100 km.
