Austral Cycle & Motor Works was an Australian manufacturer of motorcycles and automobiles .

Company history

The company from Caulfield near Melbourne manufactured motorcycles. In 1913 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was Austral . Automobile production ended in the same year. A total of around three automobiles were built.

Automobiles

The only model was a light vehicle in the style of cyclecars . A V2 engine from Peugeot with 947 cm³ displacement and 8 HP power drove the rear axle via a friction gear and belt. Unusual for the time and especially for a light, cheap vehicle was the use of front brakes, in this case by Chater-Lea .
