TD 2000 was an Australian car brand.

Brand history

Ross Marshall of the Marshall Car Company Australia Pty Ltd in Sydney invested 3 million Australian dollars in the development of a vehicle. In 1986 the production of automobiles began. The brand name was TD 2000 . Annual production of 12,000 vehicles and worldwide sales were planned. Production initially ended in 1988.

TD 2000 Pty Ltd from Gisborne continued production from 1994 to 1996.

TD Cars from Malaysia took over the project in 1998.

Only one model was on offer. It was similar to the MG TD from the 1950s, but was 6 cm wider. The engine and drive came from the Nissan Pintara from Nissan Motor Manufacturing Company (Australia) . The transmission had five gears. The open body was made of fiberglass .

The vehicle complied with the strict American and Australian registration requirements with regard to vehicle safety and emissions .
