Marks-Moir Motors Ltd was an Australian manufacturer of automobiles .

Company history

Arthur R. Marks and WA Moir founded the company in Sydney in 1923 and began manufacturing automobiles. The brand name was Marks-Moir . Heron from England was involved in the further development. Production ended in 1928. In total, at least three or four vehicles were built.

Jim Marks, the son of Arthur R. Marks, was later involved in the construction of the Southern Cross .

The first vehicle had a self-supporting body made of plywood . A four-cylinder engine from the Ford Model T was a mid-engine mounted and driven by chains the rear axle.

Another vehicle had a 10 horsepower engine from Wolseley Motor Company .

In 1925, a coupe with a 12 hp Coventry Climax engine was presented at the Sydney Motor Show . A touring car and a delivery van have also survived from the same year .

Another roadster was created in 1928 . Dewick from Strathfield made the body . It had an engine from the Continental Motors Company and axles from the Ford Model T.
