Canstel was an Australian car brand.

Brand history

The Specialized Fiberglass Moldings company from Taren Point near Sydney began producing automobiles and kit cars in 1968 under the direction of Alan McCann and Graham Steele . The brand name was Canstel . In 1973 production ended there after 39 or 40 vehicles were manufactured.

GS Motor Bodies from Carlton near Sydney under the direction of Terry O'Neill continued the production of complete vehicles from around 1978. A further 55 vehicles were built here by 1989.

The only Clubman model was a Lotus Seven- style vehicle . The open two-seater body was made of fiberglass . Initially, the chassis and four-cylinder engine came from the Triumph Herald . From 1978 Wankel engines from Mazda and Otto engines from Toyota Celica were used. A Ford engine with a displacement of 1600 cc is also mentioned.
