Australis Motors

Australis Motors was an Australian automobile manufacturer based in Leichhardt from 1897 to 1907 and operated by GW & G. Wood .

Charles Highland designed a motorized tricycle. In 1897, with the support of his son Charles Highland junior, a four-wheeled automobile in the shape of a quadricycle followed . There was space for two people. A De Dion-Bouton engine powered the vehicle. This model was offered under the brand name Highland in 1897 .

In 1901 there was a two-seater buggy with a 3 hp single-cylinder engine and in 1906 there was a light buggy with a two-cylinder engine that developed 7 bhp (5.1 kW). Both were marketed as Australis .
