Egan Motor Body Works was an Australian manufacturer of bodywork and automobiles .

Company history

The Geelong company had been manufacturing car bodies since 1916. One customer was the Ford Motor Company of Australia . By 1930 alone, around 8,000 bodies were built. In 1935 the production of automobiles began. In the same year many orders were received at the Melbourne Motor Show . The brand name was Egan . Their production ended the following year. A total of two vehicles were built.

The basis was a stable chassis . The vehicles were powered by a six-cylinder Lycoming engine with 80 hp . The axles were from Columbia and the brakes from Bendix . The three-speed transmission was synchronized . The four-door sedan was aerodynamically shaped and resembled the Chrysler Airflow .
