(map)
1st quarter of the 16th century (pond) Evidence for a livelihood of the former residents of the place and characteristic element of the villages of the Schönfeld highlands, important in terms of local history and landscape design

In many villages, especially in the area of the Schönfeld highlands, the ponds form a characteristic and important structural element of the historical settlement centers. You can find comparable systems in Schullwitz and Weißig. Like the village church, the rectory and the village inn, they are part of the traditional image of rural places. In recent times they have mainly served as extinguishing water ponds . In the past, fish were kept in them on a case-by-case basis. They were mostly created for this purpose (as in Moritzburg). In Cunnersdorf, a settlement without a church, the pond also appears as an important identity-creating artifact. This shows the commitment of some citizens of Cunnersdorf for the preservation of the pond in its traditional form. It is known from the history of the place that ponds belonged to Cunnersdorf as early as the 16th century. In 1530 the "village Kunersdorff" is mentioned with "five ponds". It is very likely that these ponds were used for fish farming. A Saxon mile sheet from 1783 shows that the village pond that is still preserved today is older (the pond at the northern end of the village is clearly visible here). The monument quality of the pond of Cunnersdorf results from the historical significance of the place (= evidence of a branch of business of the former inhabitants of the place) and the landscape design importance (= characteristic element of the villages of the Schönfeld highlands). The public interest in conservation results from the fact that the monument quality and the necessity of the conservation of the pond appear plausible to parts of the population (see already mentioned citizen engagement).
