Detailed memorial texts

  1. The Bismarck Tower in Dresden, OT Räcknitz was created in 1906 according to the standard design "Götterdämmerung" by Wilhelm Kreis , who was the model for a large number of such towers throughout Germany. The massive tower monument consists of a base, a middle section with four corner pillars and a cantilevered structure. A striking eagle relief appears on the north side facing the city. The complex was built as a national monument after the re-establishment of the German Empire and as an architectural symbol for unification and community in the name of Bismarck. As a characteristic example of the general monument cult around the turn of the century, it is historically and also historically significant. Added to this is the artistic significance of the Bismarck Tower, which results from the authorship of the famous architect Kreis and from the high design quality. The landscape design value as a landmark that can be seen from afar is also important.
