Mühlteich), camellia house, two guard buildings at the western entrance to the castle park (small and large gatehouse) and pavilion on the river-side boundary wall, also Elbe pavilion, two bridges, historical park lighting and enclosure walls (as a whole); Extensive park with a garden design, in the center a relatively regular layout of the pleasure garden, originally baroque, later redesigned, regularly also the Kaiserstück behind the Bergpalais, open expansions along the banks of the Elbe with a ferry, play facilities for the hedge garden preserved in its basic structure and the Maille railway , irregular, landscaped area of the English Garden (one of the first English gardens in Saxony) and in a similar design, but later, the Dutch and Chinese garden, remarkable collection of conifers (coniferous grove) in front of the orangery, revitalization of the New Palace by Fliederhof, entire palace - and park a unique ensemble of garden art and architecture from the baroque to modern times, significant in terms of building history, garden design, artistic, local history and landscape design, as a former residence of the Wettins also of particular importance for the state's business ichte (see Friedrichsgrund as a pre-romantic-sentimental continuation of the English Garden).
  2. As part of the Wettiner's summer residence, the Friedrichsgrund is important for the history of Saxony and also contains memories (worth remembering) of the royal family. In the time of sensitivity by Elector Friedrich August III. Adorned with ingredients (such as sacrificial stone, artificial waterfall, etc.) from 1780-1783, it forms an area of particular landscape design importance, which is probably unique in this form. Despite the loss of equipment, the ensemble is of great importance in terms of garden history. The design of the Friedrichsgrund not only corresponded to current garden art theories, it can even be viewed as progressive within the early landscape garden development in Germany: In contrast to other contemporary gardens, the Friedrichsgrund does not have any explanatory inscriptions and is limited to a few selected garden scenes, the can be assigned to a central theme - the historically and literarily transfigured Hermannsschlacht. The planned connection of the Friedrichsgrund to the Pillnitz Palace Garden shows that it was intended as an extended part of the local botanical garden. In the parts of the palace gardens created under Friedrich August, the focus was on scientific analysis, whereas in Friedrichsgrund it was all about sensual and aesthetic perception. The Friedrichsgrund is not to be viewed separately from its surroundings: It was integrated into a network of walking and driving paths that ran through the Pillnitz Elbe and the adjacent foothills. With this, the aim of garden art, to lead the visitor out into the open landscape, to make naturally beautiful areas accessible and only where it was actually necessary to take corrective action, was realized par excellence. The sentimental landscape park includes not only the area directly on the Friedrichsgrundbach, but also essential parts of the accompanying slopes, the canal path and the Königsweg including plateau, view, ruins and memorial (compare with the historical representation of the Friedrichsgrund around 1800). Ruin by Johann Daniel Schade Artificially created Gothic ruin above the Pillnitzer Friedrichsgrund on the remains of a medieval fortification, once also with a dining room and fireplace. Friedrichsgrund is bounded by Meixstrasse (including this) in the north, by Meixmühle, Kanalweg and Friedrichsgundbach tributary in the east, and by Wünschendorfer Strasse in the south and east (leaving out built-up parcel 2 in the west). Some of the stream crossings designed as arch bridges are a little more elaborate. In the eastern part of the Friedrichsgrund, a few pillars indicate that there were obviously railings here. The artificial waterfall shows a step-like design with several small basins (compare illustration of the Friedrichsgrund around 1800). The canal path appears to be fortified with a wall. It is possible that the canal running below it served to feed the artificial waterfall (LfD / 2002, 2013).
