Detailed memorial texts
- ↑ a b Entity of garrison cemetery, north cemetery in its grown functional and design unit with the following individual monuments: celebration hall (re. 1902), administration building, former home of the cemetery administrator, monumental memorial complex of the regiments of the Dresden garrison involved in the First World War, community facilities for Soviet citizens (1941 –1945, 1942–1948 and 1945–1948), for Hungarian citizens (1939–1945), for citizens of Romania, Poland and the Czechoslovak Republic (1939–1945) - here there are mainly forced laborers - for soldiers, for people who live in the Fight against war and fascism the victims died and for Dresden bomb victims from March and April 1945 (or February 13, 1945) as well as the monumental graves (see Obj. 09306380), in addition cemetery design (garden monument) also earlier and current enclosure walls and fences including entrance gate ( Entity parts); Complex with a structured path system, structure and space-creating planting as well as walls between the field areas including the associated wall sections, one of the most remarkable cemeteries in the city, significant in terms of building history, military history, local history and sepulkral history as well as artistically valuable, the monument with 24 relief panels on which the names of the individual units are of particular artistic value.
- ↑ a b Military building with driveway and elongated wagon shed including tower and gatehouses on Königsbrücker Strasse and Prießnitzgrund; the former main arsenal building, now a museum, built on a U-shaped floor plan, accentuation of the representative facade by clearly emphasized central and two side projections, grooved ground floor, upper floors with pilasters, roof areas with attic and triangular gables , central projection with colossal order and triumphal arch , representative entrance hall inside, based on the classic baroque of Ludwig XIV. (1643–1715), 2011 "Wedge" added as a speaking component, the most elaborate and historically interesting building in Albertstadt, the wagon sheds designed with window openings and blind arches, the massive gatehouses in a Baroque style, the corner towers with renaissance motifs (Bay windows and curly dormer windows), the complex is historically, artistically and urbanistically significant. The above-mentioned object is a cultural monument within the meaning of Section 2, Paragraph 1 of the SächsDSchG. The public interest in maintaining it results from its architectural, military-historical and urban significance. Erected in 1874/75 as the main arsenal building in Albertstadt, at that time the most modern facility for an army base in Germany, it takes up (after 1871) elements of the French-classical baroque of the 17th century. The Saxon Army Museum has been housed here since 1918. After 1945 the building served as a town hall and was converted into the GDR Army Museum by 1972. All these changes in use were connected with various changes, some of which were detrimental to the exterior (including loss of the trophies in the attic) and interior. Apart from the representative external facades, the building has always remained a comparatively simple functional building, which only the large vaulted hall on the ground floor gives a stronger expression.
- ↑ Research in the Dresden address books revealed that a single-storey privately owned property had stood on the site of today's Königsbrücker Straße 90 in Albertstadt as early as 1864/1865 (Königsbrücker Straße 61b, cat.-number 201B), which was used as income for city taxes . Before that, a roadhouse further south was used for this. In 1874 the state treasury took over the property. When in 1875 the municipality set up its own collection, probably on the other side of the street (Königsbrücker Straße 60, cat.-number 200B), the buildings of the state treasury did not appear to be used for some time, perhaps they served military craftsmen, at that time there was the Albertstadt garrison is under construction. According to an announcement by the Imperial Post Office on June 1, 1880, a "City Post Office with Telegraph Service - Number 15 - with the authority to accept and issue all kinds of mail ..." was set up in Königsbrücker Strasse 61b (now 90) (Dresdner Anzeiger Number 156, from 4.6.1880, p. 5). The change in use was certainly accompanied by structural changes. The Reich Military Administration has been the owner since 1881. In the address book from 1887 the object is referred to as Imperial Post Office 15, also in the one from 1915, but here in the house book Albertstadt. In 1887, an upper floor also appeared for the first time next to the ground floor, where the post office assistant Eckert lived. Accordingly, there was a renovation in 1885/1886. There were major changes ("renovation or expansion") in 1891 (Dresdner Anzeiger number 33, from February 2, 1891 and number 79, from March 20, 1891). "... on top of the little house that was previously taken by the city" a floor was to be added and it was also to be expanded in other ways. In 1895 the post office was at Königsbrücker Straße 86 and there are one or two back buildings that no longer exist today. It was given the address Königsbrücker Straße 90 in the 1930s. The former post office 15 in Albertstadt, which was established in 1880, is the oldest post office in the city of Dresden, which explains its singular significance and its special local historical value. According to another source, it was apparently also the military post office in 1937. The southern single-storey extension was certainly added in 1891. According to connoisseurs of postal history, including those of the city of Dresden, the interior is said to have been largely preserved in its original form.
- ↑ a b Cemetery in its grown functional and design unit with the following individual monuments: large obelisk (1949), flag bearer memorial (1957), grave obelisk, tombstones and two steles (ID No. 09218547), a structured path system and structurally and space-creating planting (Garden monument) and enclosure including entrance gate (material part), the so-called northern part behind the stelae also belongs to the monument material part; Designed as an honorary complex, the main axis with the flag bearer monument is the design focus, the complex is divided into several parts: to the left of the main axis, the grave field with a distinctive obelisk, opposite a large, almost square grave field with two path axes running to the northeast and two steles that function as focal points, the smaller grave field southwest of Memorial as well as a narrow grave field to the east, separation of the individual grave fields mostly by hedges, the north wing differs from the main part with embedded grave slabs and a more intimate design, military members of the group of the Soviet armed forces in Germany were buried here until well after the Second World War, the entire burial site one of the most remarkable Such facilities in Saxony, historically and artistically significant.
- ↑ The former war archive in Dresden, built in 1897, only shows the original facade design on three sides. The southern entrance front, which was once a little more elaborate, was lost. In its place there is now a tower-like extension with a staircase from GDR times (= no memorial). Apart from that, the furnishings of the older stairway wing and above all of the magazine have been preserved. The magazine is divided into four floors by iron supports and cast plates with quatrefoil motifs. A metal spiral staircase leads to the various levels. Even today, it can still be transported using a hand-operated elevator. The inserted and numbered shelves also apparently date from the time it was built. Under the ceiling there is an originally circumferential, painted frieze as a decorative painting. With the equipment described, the preserved parts of the war archive form a rare if not unique example of an archive building from the late 19th century that has come down to us. It is of exemplary architectural historical importance for this type of building. Apart from that, it forms an important part of the former military-historically significant barracks district of Albertstadt. 1946/47 to 1999 seat of the Dresden City Archives .
- ↑ In accordance with the urban ideal of the 19th century, Albertstadt was built using the open construction method, with a large number of the buildings having a monumental character. One of the most remarkable open spaces was the former Königsplatz, today's Olbrichtplatz, as a free space in front of the representative main arsenal building, now the Military History Museum, and the two former administration buildings of the administration and the mounting depot. The city plans from 1887 to 1904 show mirror-image designs of the two front surfaces with a multi-beam, geometric cross-axis connected with a double hippodrome-shaped path loop. This structure corresponds to the type of the Prussian town square, as it emerged in a roughly similar form around the same time in Dresden-Löbtau on Bonhoefferplatz and even more so on Bismarckplatz, south of the main train station, which is no longer available today. The woods are concentrated along the paths. The design described above is documented as still in existence on the city map from 1941, i.e. during the Second World War. The overall area of the park at Olbrichtplatz and the essential basic elements of its design from the end of the 19th century through two world wars have been preserved to this day. The diagonals and the western, central hippodrome of the former network of paths are still there, with minor changes. The memorial for Soviet soldiers was moved in 1994 from Albertplatz to the western side of the former Königsplatz. The former structure-forming, path-accompanying avenue plantings are executed with different tree species. The avenues of linden trees are most completely preserved, while the avenues of maple trees are only patchy and those with chestnuts have only come down to us in individual copies. Magnificently developed solitary trees (mostly oaks) are also decisive. Shrub areas can only be found at the edge of Königsbrücker Strasse and Stauffenbergallee. The central driveway has been changed in its training and no longer has any trees. In the area of Olbrichtplatz, Norway maple has been partially replanted on Stauffenbergallee, and lime tree on Königsbrücker Straße. The planned, planted streets and squares were an important design element for the overall effect of the military town. The Olbrichtplatz is a cultural monument mainly because of its urban and gardening significance. (Haufe / Lohse / Pätzig: Olbrichtplatz Dresden. Preservation objectives. Dresden 2008, edited in 2013).
