monument text
The building to be assessed here is a type of mostly two-storey, free-standing villa building with a central or side wing including half-timbered gable, which is varied in Klotzsche and probably beyond Extensions, extended roof and entrance arranged on the side, which give the building a picturesque effect. The architectural design depends on the time it was built. Before 1900, the type described mostly still showed elements of the historicism that had prevailed up to that point, here in particular the German Renaissance or the so-called "Old German style", characterized by bay windows, tail gables, medieval-looking columns, etc., after which it was briefly enlivened by Art Nouveau decor . Apart from that, there are also examples of reform architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. Buildings of this architectural trend are mostly limited to large, balanced and purely proportioned forms that culminate in high, picturesque roofs. Half-timbered houses can be found on almost all houses that were built before or after 1900, but adapted to the respective style. Apart from the testimonial value for the villa construction around 1900, the building is also of architectural significance as a largely originally preserved residential building with forms and design elements, especially of historicism. In addition, with its richly decorated facade, which particularly appeals to the aesthetic perception of the viewer, it also has an artistic value (LfD / 2015). - ↑ The Villa Alexander-Herzen-Strasse 15 in Dresden, OT Klotzsche was built in 1902 by the architect Edmund Hacault. The appearance of the two-storey single-family house in the corner with a basement and mansard roof corresponds to the architectural tendencies of the Art Nouveau that was predominant around 1900. This fact also results in the asymmetrical, moving shape of the picturesque building with various additions on three fronts. In terms of design, it is dominated by a side elevation with a half-timbered gable and a bay window in front. On the main facade facing Alexander-Herzen-Straße, decorative elements of Art Nouveau appear, such as the charming figurative representation of Venus and Cupid. "Brünnhilde" is written in "ornate" writing above the windows on the ground floor.

Monument text
The extremely representative building at Alexander-Herzen-Straße 27 is located in the former villa suburb of Klotzsche-Königswald. The two-storey building with a gabled risalit , oriel-like porch including exit above the eaves and hipped roof was built around 1905. Its restrained facade decoration focuses primarily on the highlighted components: risalit and porch. It consists of stylized ornaments, ribbons and a wooden railing decorated with diamonds at the exit. The curved gable of the risalit is enlivened by a console frieze and an oval window. This restrained but deliberately arranged facade decoration was typical of the objectified architecture at the beginning of the 20th century. Otherwise, wine trellises, profiles and the windows with grooved skylights set design accents. The originally preserved property fencing forms a functional and design unit with the villa. The monumental property of Alexander-Herzen-Straße 27 results on the one hand from the architectural historical value (striking structural evidence of architecture after 1900) and the urban / urban development historical importance in connection with the former villa suburb of Klotzsche-Königswald. In addition, the villa undoubtedly also has design qualities. The stable house shows a half-timbered construction typical of the region. The roof overhang on the courtyard side is characteristic of rural buildings from the 18th and early 19th centuries in Central Germany. The sgraffitos on the gable side appear to be handicrafts of importance. They are reminiscent of company logos and inscriptions that Hermann Glöckner created, especially in Radebeul. The stable building shows coupled arched windows on the gable ends, a typical motif for rural buildings from the second and last third of the 19th century. The barn has been preserved with the structuring and design elements from the time it was built. The square corners appear noticeable. As a result of demolitions, barns like this are becoming increasingly rare, as the example of a comparable barn construction in Lockwitz shows. In addition, it belongs to the village center of Klotzsche, which, along with Kaditz, is the best preserved street village in Dresden. Apart from that, the preserved half-timbered houses (Altklotzsche 47, 51, 53, 57, 59 and 61) with the picturesque church and the syringe house in particular lead to an unmistakable urban development history (LfD / 2010). -

The single-family house at Boltenhagener Platz 5 was built at the beginning of the 20th century by the master builder Max Otto. The unadorned building shows a high mansard roof and various additions. The high, slightly curved gable on the street front appears scaled down on the narrow sides. The fronts are enlivened by a few, but effectively accentuating decorative and structuring elements. A side entrance with stairs leads to the interior. Immediately behind the entrance is a hall board with colored glass windows through which all other rooms are accessed. The building erected by Otto is a typical example of reform architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. Buildings of this architectural trend were mostly limited by their creators to large, well-balanced and purely proportioned forms that culminate in high, painterly moving roofs. Occasionally they were livened up with little, accentuating jewelry. The rental villa Boltenhagener Straße 20 was built in 1909–1911 based on a design by the architect Fritz Müller. The execution was in the hands of the master builder Wilhelm Kreeute, who ran a construction office in Klotzsche with his wife and later with his professional colleague Köhler. The unadorned building shows a high, moving roof and various additions, in particular a tower integrated into the building mass. On the narrow side, a gable contributes to the enlivenment. The fronts are enlivened by a few but effectively accentuating dividing elements such as parapet mirrors. The extension located directly at the corner was originally an open two-storey wooden veranda, which was later massively replaced. The building erected by Müller and Kreeute is a typical example of reform architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. Buildings of this architectural trend were mostly limited by their creators to large, well-balanced and purely proportioned forms that culminate in high, painterly moving roofs. In the course of the airport construction on Klotzscher Flur from 1934, the elevated tanks responsible for the water supply to the place had to be demolished. As a replacement, a 35 meter high water tower was built in 1935 by the Sächsische Flughafen-Betriebsgesellschaft mbH. The design of the approx. 35 m high reinforced concrete framework construction, filled with bricks, goes back to the architect Kurt Otto, the Dresden branch of the company Dyckerhoff & Widmann was responsible for the construction . The monumental, square tower is characterized by a gallery floor recessed below the eaves behind supports and the large tent roof. The Saxon Homeland Security Regional Association was also involved in the design of the tower, which was initially planned from a purely engineering-technical and constructive point of view . Since the 1960s, the originally 1000m³ water tank was no longer needed for the water supply, until 1987 it was used by the city administration, the tower was used, among other things, as a fire station. With the privatization followed in 2003/04 the renovation and conversion for residential purposes. For this purpose, additional, regularly arranged window openings were inserted in the previously windowless area of the water tank and living space was created on a total of eight and a half floors. The two middle windows are each extended floor-to-ceiling and have a balcony. In the course of the renovation, the sandstone relief previously attached to the south-west facade, which shows a naked woman scooping up water, was placed in front of the water tower without being tied to a building. The water tower is a testament to the water supply in Klotzsche and for this reason is of local and technical historical importance. With its clear, distinctive design language from the 1930s, it is a rarity in Saxony and is significant in terms of architectural history (LfD / 2017). -

The appearance of the two-storey plastered single-family house with a high, moving roof documents the Art Nouveau style that dominated architecture shortly before and after 1900. In contrast to the house at Westendstrasse 21 in Dresden, OT Plauen, built in 1903, a prime example of this architectural direction, where almost the entire building has round, organic shapes, the object to be assessed here is a traditional multi-storey building that was customary even before 1900 Art Nouveau decor was applied. In terms of design, it is dominated by a side wing with a half-timbered gable and a bay window in front. On the main façade facing Goethestrasse, there is also a wall area with moving, especially floral ornamentation typical of the style with the inscription »Ingeborg« applied to a ribbon.
- ↑ Harzer villa with gatehouse, garage, garden design and enclosure, built for entrepreneur Max Bruno Harzer, later rented the first floor and consecrated as a church space in 1938, expropriated in 1943, taken over by the State of Saxony in 1946, from the 1970s to 1989 as a boarding school for the data processing center of Dresden, then vacant, 2007–2008 conversion to a residential building.

Goethestrasse 2 in Dresden, OT Klotzsche was built around 1910. The single-storey building with a high mansard gable roof faces the street with the front gable. The hall hall of the single-family house, which is accented to the outside with three stepped windows, is accessed via the northern long side. Above it rises a smaller gable with a framed oval window. An extension appears to the south with generous window openings and an exit. The only decorations are the profiles on the gable ends that accompany the eaves and the oval window above the entrance. Apart from that, the design resources are reduced to the outline of the gables, the window and door openings and the roof extensions on the garden side. The building to be assessed here is a characteristic example of reform architecture from the beginning of the 20th century. Buildings of this architectural trend are mostly limited to large, balanced and purely proportioned forms that culminate in high, picturesque roofs. Jewelry was often only used as an accent. As a testimony to the style described, which was also one of the predominant shortly after 1900, Goethestrasse 26 is significant in terms of architectural history. As part of the distinctive and coherent villa suburb of Klotzsche-Königswald, it is also of importance in terms of urban development history (LfD / 2011). -

The Greifswalder Straße 8 in Dresden, OT Klotzsche is a striking building from the 1920s. It shows typical details of the modern architecture of that time. This includes the fence, flush windows, reminiscent of the work of the famous architect Tessenow, an idiosyncratic ramp design and the building shell composed of several cubes. With the hipped roof, a traditional design element was chosen. The significance of the building history results from the testimony of the two-storey house for the architecture of the 1920s. According to the historical address books, before 1945 the property still had the address Parkstrasse 8 and the catalog number 187D, it was built in 1928 for the pharmacist Ernst Halle and was later called Hygiea-Haus. Halle's shop was located on the ground floor (LfD / 2018). -

The late classicist Villa Wolgaster Straße 3, built around 1885 (1887), is located in the former villa suburb of Klotzsche-Königswal. It is one of the oldest and most remarkable in terms of design in Klotzsche. The two-storey structure with a mansard roof is highlighted by the street-side loggias with column architecture, a heavy wrought-iron grille and a roof bay with a rich ornamental gable. The front is strictly axially structured. The walls to the side of the loggias show a window axis reaching into the roof. The building edges are emphasized by ashlar stones. The iron fence forms a creative and functional unit with the villa. The monument value of Wolgaster Straße 3 results from the historical significance (testimony to the historicizing architecture before 1900), the artistic value (high-quality villa in terms of design) and the urban development value in connection with the residential suburb of Klotzsche-Königswal. The above-mentioned aspects of monument status result in a high cultural-historical rank of the object shown here and thus its monument worthiness and the public interest in preservation. The conciseness and quality of the design are particularly important here (LfD 2015). -

The Golden Apple at Wolgaster Strasse 7 in Dresden, OT Klotzsche was built in 1885–1886 on behalf of Friedrich Wilhelm Ernst Helbig. His application is dated September 8, 1885. Judging by the floor plans in the building file, the building was a guest house with several apartments from the start. They were equipped with a drawing room, a study, a living room, a dining room, a chamber and a kitchen. The designs come from the Dresden architect G. Jaeneke. His stamp can be found on the drawings. The execution was in the hands of Albert Hauptvogel. In the building revision protocol of July 19, 1886, it is noted that the use will be permitted. In 1888 and 1889, a wash house with a crockery chamber and an annex with a horse stable and coach house were added. In the application of April 27, 1889, it is stated that the owner wants to add a horse stable and carriage shed for the gentlemen who live with him to the existing wash house building. The property has been a guest house since this year at the latest. At about the same time, the builder Gustav Winkler erected the side veranda. In 1897 Louis Klemich became the owner. He immediately had the rear farm building (Wolgaster Straße 7a) converted from a wash house, stable and coach house, by the architect Edmund Hacault, who is well known in Klotzsche. Hacault has also made some changes inside the main street-side building for the new owner. After 1902, further alterations were made to the main house and ancillary buildings. The former Hotel Goldener Apfel is a remarkable house from the end of the 19th century. The street facade is concreted by a gabled central projectile. The wooden veranda at the side adds a further accent. The striking and largely original building documents the development of the architecture during its creation, when historicism, a style of mostly elaborate buildings, whose design was based on previous building eras, came into being.
