  • The monument quality of an object does not depend on its entry in this or the official list. Objects that are not listed can also be monuments.
  • Basically, the property of a monument extends to the substance and appearance as a whole, including the interior. Deviating applies if only parts are expressly protected (e.g. the facade).

Detailed memorial texts

  1. a b The elongated barracks complex, built shortly before 1940, is a military building from the Nazi era that is highlighted in terms of architecture and urban planning. Air force buildings were often a little more elaborate - compare with the former Klotzsche Air War School . Between the rear wings of the complex there are four courtyards, which are loosened up by arcades. At the front, a long corridor supported by wooden beams and a striking tower extension set design accents. Otherwise, the one to three-storey houses are designed entirely in the forms of the traditionalism officially propagated at the time. Traditional mostly rectangular buildings with hipped or saddle roofs, simple perforated facades, enriched by arched openings, folding shutters, carefully crafted lattice windows and stone-faced "defensive" base zones were perceived as particularly national and German. For them, the local architecture after 1800 - especially Goethe's garden house in Weimar - a rectangular building with a high hipped roof, simple perforated facade and wine trellis - was exemplary. Inside, two original stucco ceilings and a staircase from the time it was built have been preserved. Apart from its architectural and urban significance, the former air force barracks is also a military-historical testimony.
