This is a list of the universities and colleges in Norway . There are nine universities in Norway (sorted by date of foundation), six state scientific universities (+ two state art universities) and another 26 state universities with a total of around 170,000 students .

The scientific and artistic colleges correspond to specialized universities, as they - like the universities - conduct teaching and research and offer full university degrees in the respective subjects.
