The journal Chemical & Engineering News publishes an annual list of the largest chemical company by sales. Only sales of chemicals are considered; pharmaceuticals and coatings are excluded from this.
Despite the merger of the two chemical groups Dow Chemical and DuPont in 2017, BASF once again tops the list of the largest chemical companies this year.
