List of buildings of the Heimatschutz style in Austria
The list of buildings of the Heimatschutz style is intended to give an overview of the existing buildings in Austria that were created in the style of Heimatschutz architecture . This style is characterized by the use of traditional building forms typical of the region and represents a further development of historicism . In contrast to this, the Heimatschutz style dispenses with ornamental, older architectural styles imitating attributes. In terms of time, the Heimatschutz style can be narrowed down to roughly the period between 1910 and 1960. This style emerged as a counter-movement to modernity. After this period, the architecture of this style fell into disrepute, not least because of its use in buildings from the Nazi era, and was superseded by more functional, functional modern architectural styles. A crucial debate for Austria took place in 2009 about the Hitler buildings in Linz, some of which were under protection . In sacred buildings in particular , mixed forms between heritage protection and modern styles were often used, so that an exact categorization is difficult (see also modern church building # modern church building in Austria ).
