The list of Gothic buildings in Austria to the fullest possible overview of buildings in the Gothic style in Austria give. Also listed are buildings that are not purely Gothic, but for example were later rebuilt in the Baroque , or of which only parts (for example the choir ) were built in the Gothic style. The list is sorted by federal state .
Gothic works that are not to be classified as buildings are not included in this list (e.g. sculptures, winged altars, etc.).
Burgenland
- Lockenhaus Castle with a remarkable knight's hall (around 1230) and chapel with remains of frescoes (oldest in Burgenland, around 1230); expanded in the 16th and 17th centuries.
Carinthia
- Dominican Church in Friesach , 1251–1255, basilica with long choir; Founded in 1217, the monastery is the oldest Dominican monastery in the German-speaking world.
- Cathedral and parish church of St. Andrä in St. Andrä in Lavanttal , mentioned in a document as early as the 9th century. Pseudo basilica , Romanesque and Gothic, important fresco decorations from the Gothic period
- Divided church on Kreuzbichl , near Gmünd in Carinthia .
- Pilgrimage church Maria Saal , basilica
- Filial church St. Margarethen ob Köttmannsdorf , first mentioned in 1204, Gothic presbytery.
Lower Austria
- Heidenreichstein Castle , largest and best-preserved moated castle in Lower Austria, in several construction phases (12th to 16th centuries)
- Heiligenkreuz Abbey , Cistercian Abbey, founded in 1133, Romanesque basilica with Gothic hall choir (13th century); later changed to baroque style
- Capella Speciosa in Klosterneuburg , consecrated in 1222, not preserved; is sometimes referred to as the oldest Gothic building in Austria, demolished in 1799, partially reused in the Franzensburg in Laxenburg
