Marcos Alonso Mendoza (born December 28, 1990 in Madrid ) is a Spanish football player . His preferred position is left wing defense . He is currently under contract with Chelsea .
Career

Marcos Alonso comes from a well-known family of footballers. His grandfather Marquitos (1933–2012) played for Real Madrid between 1954 and 1962 , where he was part of the famous white ballet , which won the European Cup five times in a row . His father Marcos (* 1959) was also a professional footballer, but celebrated his greatest successes at Atlético Madrid and FC Barcelona , where he played in right midfield from 1982 to 1987.
Alonso joined Real Madrid's youth team back in 1999, at the age of eight. On February 22, 2009 he made his debut for the club's second team, Real Madrid Castilla , in a game against AD Alcorcón , and in the 2009/10 season he played on April 4, 2010 against Racing Santander , the first professional club of his grandfather and father , his first match for the capital's senior team.
In the summer of 2010, Alonso moved to the English Premier League for the Bolton Wanderers , where he signed a contract that ran until 2013. He played his first game for the English on August 24 in the League Cup against Southampton FC . In his first two seasons Alonso was rarely used, his breakthrough came after the Wanderers were relegated to the second division . In the 2012/13 season Marcos Alonso fought his way into the starting lineup and made 26 appearances and four goals.
In May 2013, Alonso signed a contract dated until 2016 with Serie A club Fiorentina .
National team
Marcos Alonso was part of the Spanish squad for the U19 European Championship 2009 , in which his team was eliminated in the preliminary round.
Alsonso played his first international match for Spain on March 27, 2018. In the 6-1 win over Argentina , he came on in the 79th minute for Jordi Alba .
Others
On May 2, 2011, Alonso caused a fatal car accident in Madrid when his vehicle hit a wall at excessive speed. His 19-year-old girlfriend died and three other occupants of the car were injured. Alonso was charged with negligent homicide, negligent bodily harm and driving under the influence of alcohol.
