Nižné repaše (German Unterripsch or Unterrepasch , Hungarian Alsórépás ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 163 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Levoča , a circle of kraj Prešovský as well as for traditional landscape Zips .
geography
The community is located in the Leutschauer Mountains on the upper reaches of the Torysa . The municipal area is largely characterized by pastures; Beech forests only grow in the northeast. The center of the village is at an altitude of 747 m nm and is 16 kilometers from Levoča .
Neighboring communities are Tichý Potok in the north, Oľšavica in the east, Pavľany in the south-east, Vyšné Repaše in the south-west and Torysky in the north-west.
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1270 as Repach and was created in a forest that came to the Görgey family in 1278 . Other contemporary names are Repas (1311), Keeth Repas (1323), Nagrepach (1342), Repach Inferior (1399), Alsorepas (1417). In 1787 the village had 71 houses and 512 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 115 houses and 836 inhabitants who lived from forestry, livestock farming and the production of agricultural tools.
Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia. After the Second World War, due to rural exodus, a gradual population decline began, so that the community does not even have 200 inhabitants today.

According to the 2011 census, there were 189 residents in Nižné Repaše, including 156 Slovaks and 28 Russian. Five residents did not provide any information. 154 residents committed themselves to the Greek Catholic Church, 26 residents to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident each to the Evangelical Church AB and the Orthodox Church. One resident had no denomination and six residents had no denomination.
Buildings
In Nižné Repaše there is the Greek Catholic Church of Anna from the 14th century, it was substantially renovated in 1879. There are numerous traditional log houses in the village.
