Vyšné Repaše (German Oberripsch or Oberrepasch , Hungarian Felsőrépás ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia with 89 inhabitants (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Levoča , a circle of Prešovský kraj , as well as the traditional landscape Zips .
geography
The community is located in the Leutschauer Mountains . The municipality is characterized by pastures, with a few small forests on the edge. The center of the village lies at an altitude of 805 m nm and is twelve kilometers from Levoča .
Neighboring municipalities are Torysky and Nižné Repaše in the north, Pavľany in the east, Jablonov in the south, Uloža in the southwest and Levoča in the west.
history
The place originated in a forest called Repasch , which became the property of the Görgey family in 1278 . In 1323 he was mentioned in writing together with Nižné Repaše in 1323 as Keeth Repas ; twenty years later, names like Kysrepach (1342), Wyrepach (1343) and Wyuadas (1344) appeared, followed by Wywagas (1400). In 1787 the village had 71 houses and 441 inhabitants, in 1828 there were 88 houses and 638 inhabitants who lived from agriculture and the manufacture of gates, shingles, troughs and butter churns.
Until 1918 the place in Zips County belonged to the Kingdom of Hungary and then came to Czechoslovakia or now Slovakia.

According to the 2011 census, there were 107 inhabitants in Vyšné Repaše, of which 96 were Slovaks. Eleven residents made no statement. 97 residents professed to the Roman Catholic Church and one resident to the Greek Catholic Church. The denomination was not determined for nine residents.
