Beharovce (German Beharz or Beharowitz , Hungarian Beharóc ) is a municipality in the east of Slovakia , with a population of 159 (December 31, 2019) and belongs to Okres Levoča , a circle of Prešovský kraj .
geography
The municipality is located in the eastern part of the Hornádska kotlina basin in the shadow of both the Leutschauer Berge in the north and the Branisko in the east. The center of the village is at an altitude of 459 m nm , 19 kilometers east of Levoča and 35 kilometers west of Prešov .
The Branisko motorway tunnel is not far from the town .
history
The place was first mentioned in writing in 1338. The residents of the nearby Spiš Castle served in various professions, including as messengers, which gave the community its name (Slovak dahť = to run).
population
According to the 2001 census (171 inhabitants), the population consists exclusively of Slovaks, all of whom have committed to the Roman Catholic Church.
