The Lower Saxony Ministry of Economy, Labor, Transport and digitization is one of ten ministries of the country Lower Saxony . It is based in the Wangenheimpalais on Friedrichswall in the Lower Saxony state capital Hanover . The ministry has been headed by Bernd Althusmann ( CDU ) since November 2017 .
tasks
The main tasks are economic policy and economic development , labor market policy , transport policy and the digitization of the state of Lower Saxony. Economic policy issues are in particular the promotion of SMEs , tourism , the strengthening of Lower Saxony as a location within Europe and the promotion of industry .

In addition to Unit 1, the Ministerial Office, and the staff unit of the Maritime Economy, Aerospace Industry Coordinator, there is a unit group and four departments in the ministry:
- Division Z: Central Services
- Department 1: Economic and Labor Market Policy
- Department 2: SMEs
- Department 3: Industry
- Department 4: Transport
Subordinate to the ministry are the State Office for Mining, Energy and Geology , the Leibniz Institute for Applied Geophysics , Lower Saxony Metrology and Calibration , the Lower Saxony State Authority for Road Construction and Transport, and three material testing institutes from the State of Lower Saxony.
The ministry is headed by Minister Bernd Althusmann and State Secretaries Berend Lindner and Stefan Muhle .

History of architecture and art
After the numerous destruction during the air raids on Hanover in World War II , the state of Lower Saxony announced an architectural competition for a new construction of the ministry building during the economic boom . The architect Paul Wolters received 1st prize for the extension he built on the historic Wangenheim Palace between 1954 and 1956 .
