Obermögersheim is a district of the town of Wassertrüdingen in the Ansbach district in Middle Franconia ( Bavaria ).

geography

The parish village is located about four kilometers northeast of Wassertrüdingen, not far from the border with the Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen district . In a flat undulating to hilly landscape, between the Hahnenkamm and the Franconian Lake District , the place is located in a wide hollow 454  m above sea level. NHN . In the south is the hill Wachtlerberg ( 587  m above sea level ), in the north the Rastberg ( 534  m above sea level ), in the southwest the Eiselberg ( 503  m above sea level ). In the south lies the Stein corridor, in the west the Perlichfeld and in the east the Winkelfeld. The district road AN 61 / WUG 26 leads to Unterschwaningen to the state road 2221 (3.2 km northwest) or to Gnotzheim (3.7 km east). A community road leads to Geilsheim to state road 2218 (3.2 km south).

history

The former Freidorf was first mentioned in a document in 802. From 1163 to 1366 there is evidence of a local nobility called von Megersheim .

The place, which was badly damaged in the Thirty Years' War , was repopulated by numerous Austrian religious refugees who found a new home here.

Towards the end of the 18th century the high court was jointly exercised by the Ansbach Oberamt Wassertrüdingen and the Oberamt Spielberg from Oettingen- Spielberg . The community itself held the village and community rulership, as it was a free village . From 1797 to 1808 the place was subordinate to the Justice and Chamber Office Wassertrüdingen . From March to September 1806, the 34th French line regiment of Napoleonic troops cantonnized in and around the village. A hospital was set up in the castle.

In 1806 Obermögersheim came to the Kingdom of Bavaria . With the municipal edict in 1809, the Obermögersheim tax district was formed, to which the towns of Kröttenbach , Laufenbürg and Nordstetten belonged. At the same time, the rural community of Obermögersheim was created together with Laufenbürg and Nordstetten . With the second community edict (1818), two rural communities were formed:

The municipality of Obermögersheim was under the administration and jurisdiction of the district court Wassertrüdingen and in the financial administration of the Rentamt Wassertrüdingen (1919 renamed Finanzamt Wassertrüdingen , 1932–1973 tax office Gunzenhausen , since 1973 tax office Ansbach ). The jurisdiction remained with the district court Wassertrüdingen until 1879, from 1879 to 1956 the district court Wassertrüdingen was responsible, from 1956 to 1970 the district court Gunzenhausen and from 1970 to 1973 the district court Dinkelsbühl , which has been a branch of the district court Ansbach since 1973 . The administration was taken over by the newly created Dinkelsbühl district office in 1862 (renamed the Dinkelsbühl district in 1938 ). With the dissolution of the Dinkelsbühl district in 1972, Obermögersheim came to the Ansbach district. The municipality had an area of ​​12,591 km². In the course of the regional reform , Obermögersheim was incorporated into Wassertrüdingen on July 1, 1972.
