Obernau was part of the municipality Windeck in the Rhein-Sieg district . Today it forms the southernmost part of Rosbach .

Obernau lies on the slopes of the Leuscheid . Former neighboring towns were Hundhausen in the southeast, Roth in the northwest and Rüddel in the north.

history

Obernau belonged to the parish of Rosbach and at times to the mayor's office Dattenfeld .

In 1830 Obernau had 118 inhabitants.

In 1845 the hamlet had 172 inhabitants in 32 houses, one Catholic, 166 Protestant and five Jewish . In 1863 there were 185 people. In 1888 there were 275 residents in 45 houses.

In 1962 there were 334 inhabitants and in 1976 414.
