Ogíjares is a municipality in the Vega de Granada , Granada province , Andalusia and part of the Granada metro area. The neighboring municipalities are Granada , Armilla , La Zubia , Gójar and Alhendín . The place is 6 km away from Granada and had 14,160 inhabitants in 2019. Originally there were two small villages called Ogíjar Alto and Ogíjar Bajo, which later united to form Los Ogíjares, or simply Ogíjares called village; of the old settlements only the two churches are preserved.

Culture

The Ogijares Flamenco Festival is one of the most important such festivals in the province of Granada. In addition, the Escuela Municipal de Música y Danza de Ogíjares is locally active.
