Norway took part in the 1948 Summer Olympics in London with a delegation of 81 athletes (77 men and 4 women) in 50 competitions in twelve sports.

The Norwegian athletes won one gold and three silver and three bronze medals. The sailors Håkon Barfod , Sigve Lie and Thor Thorvaldsen were Olympic champions in the kite boat class . The flag bearer at the opening ceremony was the athlete Godtfred Holmvang .
