Peter Hawthorn Ashdown (born October 16, 1934 in Danbury , Essex ) is a retired British racing car driver .

Career

Peter Ashdown is one of those racing drivers who have only participated in a single world championship run of the automobile world championship . Ashdown competed in the 1959 British Grand Prix , held on July 18th at the Aintree Circuit , on a Cooper T45 - Climax owned by the Alan Brown team . He finished the race 6 laps behind the winner Jack Brabham in a Cooper T51 -Climax in 12th place.

Ashdown was successful in sports car racing . Between 1955 and 1962, it contested 87 races. He achieved 13 overall and 11 class wins. His last appearance was in the 1000 km race at the Nürburgring in 1962 , which he finished eighth overall.
