Charles Vögele
Karl Leo "Charles" Vögele (born March 12, 1923 in Uznach ; † April 21, 2002 in Altendorf ) was a Swiss entrepreneur, racing driver and Formula 1 team manager in the 1960s.
Career
Vögele founded the fashion retail company Charles Vögele , which had branches in ten European countries.
As a driver, he took in 1960 along with Peter Ashdown at the 24-hour race at Le Mans in part, but did not finish. Charles Vögele also drove with Peter Ashdown in the 12-hour races at Sebring in 1960 and 1961 , where he achieved a class win in 1960. He also drove other sports car races with Jo Siffert . His team, Charles Vögele Racing , registered (all with Silvio Moser as driver) to take part in six Formula 1 races in 1967 (on Cooper ) and 1968 (on Brabham ). In three participations after successful qualification, two points were fought for at the Dutch Grand Prix in 1968.
He was also interested in art and antiques , and in 1976 he acquired the auction house Jürg Stuker .
Honors
1995 Culture Prize of the Canton of Schwyz for the establishment and expansion of the Seedamm Cultural Center in Pfäffikon .
