The Rödgener Mühle is located on Anton-Raky-Straße in the Rödgen district in the Mittelstadt Wegberg in the Heinsberg district . The mill building stood on the left side of the Helpensteiner Bach. In front of the mill is a mill pond, the water level of which is 63 m above sea level. NN and which is fed by the Helpensteiner Bach. Above the Dalheimer Mühle is the Rödgener Mühle, below the Gitstapper Mühle on Dutch territory.
Waters
The Rothenbach has its origin in the Helpensteiner Bach, which has its source near the Siemens test center on Friedrich-List-Allee. The source height is 84 above sea level. NN. The Helpensteiner Bach flows through the Rödgener Burgweiher, also called Rakyweiher, and supplied the Dalheimer Mühle with water via an overshot mill wheel until 1899. The further course of the brook leads through a wooded area to Dalheimer Mühle, where the Helpensteiner Bach flows through the upstream mill pond and forms the border between the Netherlands and Germany behind the mill as Rothenbach over a stretch of 5.5 km. On its way, the Gitstapper mill is supplied with water before the Rothenbach near Vlodrop flows into the Rur as "Rode Beek" in the Netherlands . The mouth height is 28 m above sea level. NN.
Mill pond
In front of the mill is a mill pond, the water level of which is 63 m above sea level. NN and which is fed by the Helpensteiner Bach. This mill pond, the so-called raky pond, is the subject of the press release of August 20, 2010 Who will save the raky pond. It is feared that the raky pond will silt up more and more. The city of Wegberg announced help on April 29, 2011. At a meeting in the Heinsberg district building, the landscape advisory board has now announced that the rescue measures will start in 2013. Press report from February 22, 2013. As of June 2018, the Raky pond has silted up. The area of the former pond can no longer be entered. There is danger to life.
history
The Rödgener Mühle, located below the so-called Rödgener Burgweiher on Anton-Raky-Straße, can no longer be easily recognized as a former mill building. The old mill was built in 1802 and served as a grinding mill, which could be operated overshot due to the difference in altitude in the area, i.e. it had very good operational conditions. The mill was closed in 1899. In that year the drilling contractor Anton Raky bought the building and had it converted into an apartment for Trina Esser, with whom he had a love affair. She was the granddaughter of Wilhelm Jansen, the last Rödgener miller.
