history

The Mohrenmühle is mentioned for the first time in 1559 in the Gangelter church rent list and was already called "more moele" back then. But it is probably much older. The Mohrenmühle was a flour mill . It had two grinders , which from 1913 were driven by an 18 HP turbine . A small electric generator was also driven with the turbine . In 1965 the last Mohrenmüller shut down the turbine for good. Another reason was the relocation of the Rodebach when the river was straightened . Since then, several millstones , the power generator and a notice board on the house remind of a 500-year-old tradition .
