The Engelsmühle was formerly on Rodebach preferred water mill with an undershot waterwheel in Gangelt -Stahe, a rural community in North Rhine-Westphalia Heinsberg district .

The Engelsmühle was located at Rodebachstrasse 33, at the corner of Engelsmühle in the Stahe district in the Gangelt community. The area on which the courtyard and mill building stood has a height of approx. 64 m above sea level . The mill located on the upper course on the left side of the stream was the first of 14 mills. The square mill follows 500 m below .

Waters

Up until the last century, the Rodebach supplied fourteen mills with water. The stream begins at a retention basin near Siepenbusch in the town of Übach-Palenberg at an altitude of 105 m above sea level. The Rodebach has a length of 28.9 km to its confluence with the Geleenbeek near Oud-Roosteren in the Netherlands . The mouth height is 29 m above sea level. history

The Engelsmühle belonged to a Heinsberg feudal court around 1300 and is said to have gone up in flames in 1542. In 1571, Duke Wilhelm von Jülich allowed the construction of a new grain mill . The annual fee was three Malter rye to the Rentmeister in Millen . At the beginning of the last century, the onset of water shortages on the Rodebach became noticeable. Due to a planned river straightening, the community took over the dam right and compensated the mill owner. The Engelsmühle, which was named after the last miller family, was closed in 1924. The mill building was laid down some time ago and replaced by new buildings.
