The Kitscher Mühle was a water mill on the Kitschbach , in the municipality of Waldfeucht in the North Rhine-Westphalian district of Heinsberg in the administrative district of Cologne .
geography
The Kitscher mill had its location on Kitsch Bach, on Kitscherweg, in the district of hair , in the town of Waldfeucht . The property on which the house and farm building still stands has a height of approx. 33 m above sea level .
Waters
The Kitschbach is a stream with a length of 10.5 km. The beginning of the stream is in Waldfeucht-Löcken at a height of 54 m above sea level. It leads via Schöndorf , Obspringen , Haaren, Karken and Wolfhager Mühle to the German - Dutch border . At the eastern exit of Haaren, on the Kitscherweg, the Kitschbach supplied the Kitscher Mühle with water. As a border water and later as a brook in the Netherlands, the Kitschbach before Vlodrop (NL) flows from the left into the Rur at a height of 29 m above sea level. The water association Eifel-Rur (WVER) is responsible for the care and maintenance of the body of water with a catchment area of 54.439 km 2 .
history
Local historical research suggests that the kitsch mill belonged to the Kirenz farm, which was mentioned as early as the 13th century. The mill was first mentioned by name much later. In the book of the Waldfeuchter Schöffengericht from 1545 to 1583, the Selfkanter mill conditions are listed, according to which there was an obligation to collect the grist from the forest damp from the mills. This affected the Kitscher Mühle, the Millener - and the Wolfhager Mühle . The meal customers were encouraged to give the peert een schouf stroes on eene emmer waeters ( horse a sheaf of straw and a bucket of water ).
The Kitscher Mühle was a grain mill with an undershot water wheel . It had a grinder and worked until the middle of the 19th century. The still standing farm bears the name Kitscher Mühle and keeps memories of old times alive .
