The Brommler mill is a former on Rodebach preferred water mill with an undershot waterwheel in Gangelt , a rural community in North Rhine-Westphalia Heinsberg district .
geography
The Brommler Mühle is located on the right side of the stream, Schinvelder Straße 51 in the district of Mindergangelt in the municipality of Gangelt. The area on which the courtyard and mill building stands is approx. 58 m above sea level . Neighboring mills are above the Dahlmühle and below the Etzenrather Mühle .
Waters
Up until the last century, the Rodebach supplied fourteen mills with water. The stream begins at a retention basin near Siepenbusch in the town of Übach-Palenberg at an altitude of 105 m above sea level. The Rodebach has a length of 28.9 km to its confluence with the Geleenbeek near Oud-Roosteren in the Netherlands . The mouth height is 29 m above sea level. history
The first mention of the Brommler mill can be found in the year 1317/27 in a description of the place in the Gangelter town book. In addition to this name, they were also called "Stegermühle" or "Steiger Moelen". This is how it is named in the Tranchot map from 1804/05. The Brommler mill was originally a flour mill , which in the 19th century with an oil drums and a pug mill was equipped. The stones of the pan mill can still be found on the property today. The oil mill ceased operations in 1920, the grain mill worked until 1940. Today the Brommler mill has been converted into a country inn.
