Radio Bonn / Rhein-Sieg is the local radio for the city of Bonn and the Rhein-Sieg district . It went on air on May 11, 1991 and received its license from the State Media Authority in North Rhine-Westphalia . The editor-in-chief is Jörg Bertram. Around one million people live in the distribution area and the adjacent areas of Rhineland-Palatinate between Bergisches Land, Westerwald and Eifel.

Radio Bonn / Rhein-Sieg has been broadcasting a fourteen-hour local program from Monday to Friday since January 2, 2017, consisting of the programs "Am Morgen" from 6 am to 10 am, "At work" from 10 am to 3 pm, and the program " Off to the end of the day ”from 3 to 8 pm. Local programs are broadcast on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m. and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Outside of its own broadcasting time, broadcasts are taken over by the broadcast program provider Radio NRW . However, the world news on the hour is also obtained from Radio NRW during its own local broadcasts.
From 5:30 a.m. to 7:30 p.m. (Saturdays from 7:30 a.m. and Sundays from 9:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m.) the local radio broadcasts local news every half hour from its own broadcasting station. After the world news on the hour, two local short messages are sent. At half an hour, detailed local reports of about three minutes each can be heard.
The broadcaster focuses on local service. Three weather stations and a webcam are operated. Karsten Brandt from Donnerwetter provides the weather . The traffic service in the morning and afternoon rush hour comes from a specially manned traffic workstation. The station uses two reporter vehicles and an outside broadcast van.
In the third quarter of 2019, Radio Bonn / Rhein-Sieg was the first local broadcaster in NRW to exceed the 1 million mark in average listening hours per month. The State Agency for Media in Düsseldorf has certified the station as one of the most professional local stations as part of a program expansion.
Until June 24, 2011, the editorial team of Radio Bonn / Rhein-Sieg was located in the Bridge Forum in Bonn-Beuel in the immediate vicinity of the banks of the Rhine and the Kennedy Bridge . On June 27, 2011, the first broadcast from the new studio in the building of the daily newspaper General-Anzeiger in Justus-von-Liebig-Str. 15 in Bonn- Dransdorf .
