history
Before the birth of Christ, the area was part of the Celtic Kingdom of Noricum and belonged to the surroundings of the Celtic hill settlement Burg on the Schwarzenbacher Burgberg , which was the main town for the entire north-east Noricum . Later under the Romans, today's Walpersbach was then in the province of Pannonia .
In 1367 and 1373 Walpersbach is mentioned in connection with the family of the Häschk and Heschken von Walpersbach in the written sources. At this time, Heschk von Walpersbach built a chapel, which he donated to the Sankt-Georgs-Kirche, a parish of the Reichersberg Abbey , in 1373 . In the 15th century, the vicinity of Veste Pitten was a disadvantage for Walpersbach. In 1409 knight Hans von Laun (pledge holder of Pitten Castle) set fire to Walpersbach.
coat of arms
Blazon : "A blue shield crossed by a silver slanting left wavy bar, covered with a golden aische slanting to the right."
This coat of arms shows the seal coat of arms of the Heschk von Walpersbach, who were the owners of Walpersbach Castle from 1350 to 1500 and who exercised local authority over the village of Walpersbach. This family coat of arms was a talking coat of arms, which was derived from the family name Heschko = Aesko = Aische and shows a swimming fish (Stiftarchiv Reichersberg - document collection). In addition, a silver oblique left-hand wave bar was placed on the sign, which can express the valley location of the community.
