The 1950/51 season was the seventh season of Division 1 as the highest Swedish ice hockey division . Djurgårdens IF became the master . IK Huge , Tranebergs IF , Västerås IK and IFK Norrköping were relegated to the second division.

In the main round, the league was divided into two groups (North and South). Each of the six teams per group played a total of ten games. The two group winners met in the championship final. The last two in each group were relegated directly to the second division. Each team received two points for a win, one point for a draw and zero points for a defeat.
